National RFID Roadmap Planning Workshop

The Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) together with SIRIM Berhad will be jointly organizing the National RFID Roadmap Planning Workshop. Scheduled from the 2nd – 3rd December 2009 at the SIRIM Berhad, Shah Alam, Malaysia, the 2-days workshop aims to gather information and further insight from the participants in order to finalise a National RFID Roadmap to maximize the Economic Impact and Benefits of RFID for the country.The event is structured partly in an interactive dialogue manner whereby participants input and feedback are required in order to determine and test the principles of the proposed National RFID Roadmap, its emphasis, goals, priorities and the alignment with the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) Roadmap and the value added contributions in terms of the ITU’s ICT Development Index vis-à-vis the need to increase national broadband penetration targets under National Broadband Plan. Ultimately, the findings from this workshop, together with the current National RFID Infrastructure Readiness Survey being conducted by MCMC, will be analysed and included as part of MCMC’s National RFID Roadmap report to be forwarded to government planners for the 10th Malaysia’s Plan. This event is expected to bring in 30 local and international speakers as well as attract more than 200 local and international participants. The participants for this Workshop are expected to comprise of both foreign as well as local RFID industry experts, various stakeholders involved in RFID from any one of the multitude of sectors ranging from Postal & Courier, Transport and Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Retail, Agriculture, Health, Halal Food, Telecommunications and Asset tracking, etc. Last but not least, it is aimed also for participants from the government sector in order to update and seek their views on specific domain aspects peculiar to their own departments.We look forward to welcoming you at the workshop and thank you for your support in anticipation.
