Mobile phone (hand phone) have already changed the way we live, work and communicate. Now, they also poised to change the way we shop. Many mobile phones today can scan bar codes, read RFID tags and access internet. By pointing and clicking at a product or magazine, the mobile phones can bring information linked to a product directly to the consumer – which in turn brings the consumer closer to the product and its brand. Brand owners are already recognising that there are many ways to use mobile phones to offer consumers a richer shopping experience and more engaging services. In Japan, consumers are already accessing product information via their hand phones.
